인종에 대한 선입견이 행동에 미치는 영향 (외국인 노동자들을 대하는 태도를 중심으로)
(The effect of a racial prejudice in motion; with an attitude toward foreign laborers as the central figure)

한국 내에서 백인에 대한 동경과 외국인 노동자들에 대한 차별은 그 동안 여러 번 거론되었었다. 또한, 인종 차별과 그 양상들에 대한 여러 연구들이 있었다. 필자의 견해로 이는 자본주의를 기반으로 하여 선진국의 사람들에 대한 동경과 후진국의 사람들에 대한 괄시가 한국 내에 존재하였다. 이는 여러 자료들을 통해 이미 검증된 바 있다. 방송 매체들은 한국 내에 거주하는 외국인 노동자들의 범죄 행위를 초점을 맞춘 프로그램들을 여러 번 조명하였고, 드라마 등에서 유능한 외국인은 대부분 백인들을 섭외하여 어느 정도의 편견을 조장하였다. 그러나 요즘 한국 내의 반미 감정이 심화되고 외국인 교사들의 비도덕적인 모습들이 비춰지는 반면, ‘느낌표’ 같은 프로그램들을 통해 외국인 노동자들과 가까워지려는 시도가 많이 이뤄지고 있다. 본 연구에서 밝히고 싶은 것은 그러한 시도들이 있는 가운데 실제로 외국인 노동자와 접촉하는 횟수가 많은 사람들의 인식은 어느 정도 변화가 있었으며, 외국인 노동자들이 현재 한국인에 대해 어떠한 인상을 가지고 있느냐는 것이다. 이전의 인식에 관해서는 1998년도에 이뤄진 ‘정기선’ 씨의 논문을 활용할 것이며, 현재의 인식에 대해 설문과 인터뷰를 통해 조사할 예정이다.

It has raised, many times, issues of an admiration for White and discrimination for foreign laborers in Korea. Also, there were many researches about a racial discrimination and its aspects. In my opinion, an admiration for the people in rich countries and discrimination for the underdeveloped countries, which are based on capitalism, have existed in Korea. It was proved through many researches already. Media used to promote biases by making programs about the crime by foreign laborers in Korea, but by using White people as intelligent foreigners in media such as a drama.
However, in these days, the media is changing; they also accuse unmoral behavior of white English teachers in Korean institutes with currents news programs, but tries to help people understand foreign laborers with warm heart by making programs like ‘The Exclamation Mark’. I’d like to study in how much recognition of Korean who contact with foreign laborers while those attempts are going on, and also what impression about Korean foreign laborers have. To get information about ex-recognition, I will use Jung, Kisun’s article; that was written in 1998, and then research current recognition by a use of survey and having interviews.

아직 연구 대상도 확실히 정해지지 않았고, 연구 문제에 대해서도 더 많은 고민을 해야합니다. 그런데 자꾸 헷갈려서요. 정확히 말하고 싶은 것이 머리 속에서는 분명히 있다고 생각은 하는데 어떻게 전개를 해야할 지 잘 모르겠습니다. 코멘트 부탁드려요.. ^^* 저는 외국인들과 거리가 인접한 한국인들을 대상으로 조사를 하려고 하였으나, 다시 생각해보니 '느낌표' 등을 본 적이 있는 한국인들의 인식을 조사하는 것이 더 나을 것 같기도 하고 조금 막막합니다. 왜냐하면 직접적으로 외국인 노동자들을 보는 사람들은 매체의 영향보다는 개인적 경험이 더 크게 작용하여 그들을 대할 것 같다는 생각이 들었습니다.

The subject of study didn't made up clearly, and so I need consider more about my research question. But, things I want to deal with are confusing me; the concept, subject, and so on. I think I have some what I want to say in my brain, but I don't know how to develope my thinking. Please remark upon mine. I was going to carry out on Koreans who see forein laborars frequently in real world. However, while I rethinking about the subject of study, I feel like it would be better if I would make a research into people who already watched TV program like 'Nwkkimpo'. So now, I don't know which one will go through with my research project for the better. The reason is that the former may be influenced by their own experience rather than media effect.
